Consumer unit replacement in a 1960s semi
A three-bedroom semi with a rewireable fuse box, no RCD protection and an electric shower on an undersized circuit. We tested every circuit first, found the shower cable needed upgrading, and gave a fixed price covering the new consumer unit with RCBO protection, the shower circuit and the certificate. One working day, power off for most of it, £500–£700 for the board plus the agreed circuit work. The customer received an Electrical Installation Certificate and the Building Control notification.
Landlord EICR with remedials on a Victorian terrace
A letting agent needed a report before a new tenancy. The inspection found a C2 for a missing earth on the lighting circuit and a C3 for an old-style consumer unit. We issued the report the same day, quoted the remedial work in writing and completed it within the 28-day window the regulations allow. The agent had a satisfactory report and the remedial certificate in time for the tenant moving in. EICR £150–£250; remedial work priced per job.
Home EV chargepoint on a driveway
A 7kW chargepoint for a household with off-street parking. We checked the main fuse and earthing arrangement, fitted the unit with its own protective device, notified the DNO and tested the installation. Fitted from £1,000, with the grant claimed on the customer's behalf where they qualified. Half a day on site.
